I've been painting mostly surfers these past ten days or so. I plan on using these images on canvas as a sort of gallery that will hang from my camper roof down both sides of the camper
. I'll have a total of twelve canvases to try to garner interest in my work. I usually work from in the surf break using my Nikon D800 with a flash all contained in two waterhousings. It gets a bit much when I go into the surf 2 to 4 times a day, especially when putting on a cold wet wetsuit. With this new 600mm telephoto lens I'm sure that I can get some great images and not have to work my butt off as much.

Mission Bay Jetty Surfing
I shot a photograph of this surfer a couple of weeks back. Been working on this painting using the photo as a guide for most of the day. Spent last week in a painting class taught by Maryln Sholin up in Sonora, California. Learned a lot to say the least and am now trying to apply the skills that I learned. Sonora is located in the California gold country north of Yosemite. It was great to be back in the area as I lived there for four years back in the 1980's.
